Community Yard Sale Q & A

Since so many people want yo know about your Community Yard Sale, we have compiled the top questions.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE THE SALE?  We have the sale the last Saturday of the month from April to September.  ALL 2020 SALES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO COVID.  WE WILL SEE YOU NEXT YEAR ON APRIL 24, 2021.

WHERE IS THE SALE HELD?  The sale is held in the parking lot of JF Burms Elementary School in Landen. Their address is 8471 Columbia Road.

WHAT TIME IS THE SALE?  The sale is from 9 a.m. To 1  p.m.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS OR SNOWS?  Rain or shine, the sale will be on.  If the weather is bad, we will determine the interest of the vendors and will call the sale if no one shows up.

ARE THERE RESTROOMS?  Unfortunately the school is closed and we do not have restrooms available at the sale. There are stores and restaurants close by.

I WANT TO SELL, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?  Just show up.

DO I NEED TO PRE-REGISTER?  No. It is first come, first serve. However, we have never sold out.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING?  It is $15 a parking space to sell.  Buyers are free.

$15 A PARKING SPACE?  Yes, depending on how much stuff you have to sell, some people sell the stuff from their trunk. If you have a lot of stuff, you can put tables up and park your car in another spot.

WHAT DOES THE DEERFIELD WOMEN’S CLUB DO WITH MY $15?  We give the money to a charity that we pick at the beginning of the year. We have donated to the Humane Association of Warren County, Buckeye Search and Rescue Dogs, Women’s Shelter and Building Blocks for Kids to name a few. This year the proceeds will help Medicaid residents at Mason Health Care Center.

CAN I BUY MORE THAN ONE PARKING SPOT?  Yes it is $15 for 1, $30 for 2, etc.

CAN I DONATE EXTRA MONEY TO MASON HEALTH CARE CENTER?  Absolutely!  Just see a Women’s Club member?

DO YOU PROVIDE TABLES, TENTS ETC?  Unfortunately no. You will need to bring them with you.

WHAT CAN I SELL?  You can sell whatever you want except firearms, knives, illegal items. This is a family event so if something is inappropriate, we will just ask that you put it away.  Yes, it’s okay to sell Avon, Tupperware etc.  As well as fundraising items and jewelry.

SHOULD I PUT PRICES ON THE ITEMS?  It’s entirely up to you.  Remember it’s a garage sale, if you want to sell it, price it accordingly.

WHERE DO YOU ADVERTISE?  We advertise in the Living magazines, Craigslist, Garagesalecow.com, Kings schools, Facebook and the neighborhood pages.

DWC presents check to JF Burns

Tish, Jennifer and Tanya presented Principal Cheryl Montag the proceeds of the 2014 Holiday Workshop.

Mrs. Montag was very happy with the $2500 check and will be using the money to purchase Chrome Books (laptops) for the Kindergarden and First grade classes.  Since the other grades already have and use the Chrome Books, JF Burns wants the younger grades to have the same opportunity.
